Co-creating with The Divine

Have you fallen short of achieving a dream/vision you desire? It’s like no matter how hard you try to attain it, it feels a few feet out of reach. Then you start doubting your abilities and wonder if you’ll ever achieve it at all. Well, my friend, you may want to halt the downward spiral that tends to cause more worries than solutions. One issue may be that you’re too focused on the desire or destination rather than the journey to get there. I know, I know. You’re probably thinking, “Well, I’ve worked hard and long enough; it’s time I reap the rewards!” Trust me, The Divine hears you. However, I’ve learned that a perspective shift may need to occur before you can receive what you desire most.

When trying to bring a dream/vision to fruition, God often exposes deficiencies He wants to help heal so we’ll be fully prepared to receive when the time comes. The biggest hurdle I’ve had to overcome was how I spoke to myself. I lived in my head, and my thoughts filled with irrational fears that led me to be my own worst critic. I harbored limiting beliefs and projected these insecurities into the world for them to then come back in the form of toxic behavior from others. At first, I couldn’t figure out why I seemed to be the target of people’s discontentment and aggression. But when I turned inward, I realized they reflected the parts of myself I didn’t like; I knew something had to change. My mind required a significant cleansing, and all the boomeranged negativity was the byproduct of my initial thoughts. My biggest takeaway was that what I told myself about myself mattered. The power of life and death is in the tongue, so what we think and say can become our reality. And if we’re not careful, we’ll manifest the opposite of what we truly desire.

So here’s a proposal: when manifesting or holding the dream/vision God has given us, no matter what it looks like in the outside world, we must trust that He’ll be faithful to deliver. We shouldn’t allow negative self-talk and doubt to creep in. Instead, we should hold firm to His truths. Jeremiah 29:11 tells us that God knows His plans for us: to prosper, not harm, and give us hope and a future, so why not believe the impossible is still possible? Life improves once we replace our distorted belief with The Most High’s truth.

God wants us to surrender to the process and elevate us to be the best version of ourselves. He wants to refine us: removing what doesn’t belong, like an over-inflated ego, and in return, expose the things He planted within us from conception so that we can serve as an inspiration and guide to others. That’s not to say the path will be easy and that doubt and confusion cannot arise. Although confusion does not come from Him, He’ll allow it as a test of our faith and willingness to be obedient.

We should avoid getting too attached to specific outcomes or how we think the journey should unfold; that leaves little room for God to do the miraculous. So forge forward with Him as your compass, and you’ll land exactly where you should in time. It requires commitment and patience but will be well worth the wait.
